Fasting Rules of Krishna Janmashtmi
The rules of Janmashtmi should be followed like the fasting rules of during Ekadashi fasting. No grains should be taken during this fast until you broke the fast next day after sunrise. The fast should be broken at appropriate time that is, after sunrise next day. It can be broken during day time.
Depending on end timing of Rohini Nakshatra and ashtmi tithi , fasting on Krishna Janmashtami might continue for two complete days. People who are not able to follow two days fasting can break the fast on next day after Sunrise. It has been suggested by Hindu religious text Dharmasindhu.
